Questions about the drive

How long is the drive from Seattle?

About 1.5 hours to Skykomish on average — anywhere from 1 to 2 hours, depending on where in Seattle you start. About 2.5 hours to Leavenworth, over Stevens Pass or Snoqualmie Pass; either way takes about the same time. Skykomish to Leavenworth is 55 minutes, over Stevens Pass.

Which airport should I fly into?

For Tye Haus and Sky Haus, fly into Seattle–Tacoma International (Sea-Tac); the drive to Skykomish is about 1.5 hours. For The Cascade Chalet, Pangborn Memorial Airport in Wenatchee is about 40 minutes from Leavenworth, or Sea-Tac is about 2.5 hours.

Do I need four-wheel drive or chains in winter?

No. None of the three cabins requires all-wheel drive, four-wheel drive or chains. In winter we do recommend AWD or 4WD and carrying chains for The Cascade Chalet in Leavenworth, and checking road conditions before driving to Tye Haus or Sky Haus in Skykomish, because US-2 can be snowy depending on the time of year. WSDOT can also require traction tires or chains on the mountain passes themselves, so check its pass reports before you cross.

Where is Tye Haus?

Skykomish, Washington, in the Mt. Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest off US-2. The exact address goes out with your check-in details; the business address is 76141 NE 122nd St, Skykomish, WA 98288.

Is there parking at the cabins?

Yes, and it's free. The driveway at Tye Haus holds two cars and the one at Sky Haus two to four; more than that park in Timberlane Village's designated areas along the road, and when there is snow, or a chance of it, everyone parks there, because of the plow. The Cascade Chalet has off-street parking on site.
