Analytics

We use Google Analytics to understand how the site is used: which pages people visit, how they arrived (a search, a link, an ad), roughly where they are, the kind of device and browser, and whether they go on to check availability or book. It uses cookies to recognize a returning browser. Google Analytics doesn't store your IP address, and we don't use it to identify you personally.

You can opt out with Google's opt-out add-on, or by blocking cookies in your browser.

Advertising

We use the Meta Pixel (Facebook and Instagram) to see whether our ads lead to visits and bookings, and to show our ads to people who have visited the site. It records the pages you view and actions such as starting a booking, using cookies and similar technology. Meta's use of this information is covered by Meta's privacy policy, and you can control the ads you see in your Meta ad preferences.

Checking availability and booking

The booking calendar and checkout on this site are provided by OwnerRez, the reservation system we use. When you get a quote or book, the details you enter (your name, contact details, dates, number of guests and payment) go to OwnerRez, which processes payment securely. We don't see or store your full card number. We receive the booking details we need to host your stay and keep in touch about it. OwnerRez's handling of that information is covered by its privacy policy. The booking calendar and checkout also report quotes and completed bookings to our Google Analytics and Meta Pixel accounts, so we can tell which pages and ads lead to bookings.

If you book through Airbnb or Vrbo instead, that booking is handled under their own privacy policies.

The waitlist and contacting us

The waitlist form is provided by LeadFoster. We use what you enter there (your name, contact details and the dates you want) only to let you know when those dates open up. When you email, call or text us, we use your message and contact details to reply and to look after your booking.

Other things the site loads

Pages load their fonts from Google Fonts, and the video on one journal post plays through YouTube's privacy-enhanced player, which doesn't set YouTube cookies until you press play. Both services receive your browser's IP address when they load, as any web request does.

Your choices

You can browse the whole site with cookies blocked or an ad blocker on. The booking calendar may need cookies to work. To ask what we hold about you, correct it, or have it deleted, email tyehaus@gmail.com. We keep booking records as long as we need them to run the business and meet tax and legal requirements.

This site isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect information from them.
